"The hardest or the most fun" mile of the AT - Mahoosic Notch

I tried to tell them.   Judd wanted friends Steve B and John W (still don't know their trail names) to join him for the 3-day hike he had to fill the Maine AT gap. I researched the Mahoosuc Notch. From 5 million steps with Yoda blog:  it was described as  "the hardest, or if you have the right attitude, the most fun mile of the AT, Mahoosuc Notch. Guthook describes this section as, a deranged jumble of boulders at the bottom of this deep cleft between Mahoosuc Mountain and Fulling Mill Mountain".Aug 28, 2015

I guess they had the right attitude.  Judd said it wasn't necessarily the hardest but it was sure the slowest. Some spots were so narrow, they had to take their pack off and throw it through the crevice before wiggling through on their bellies. Some boulders were so far down, they had to sit on their butts and stretch down. Curses were made. Knees were skinned.

They met up Aug 22 pm at the Thompson house to make extensive food and packing plans. There was a sampling of a nice reconstituted curry but the wife folk seemed to prefer the bar-b-qued meat and fresh           veggies.

On Aug 25, the men met early and Allane drove with them to Sunday River, Maine to leave a car at the foot of the Carlo Col trail. They proceeded to the trail head at Grafton Notch, Maine and hiked south about 5 miles to Speck Pond Shelter. Everyone had packed more than enough food and no one perished from malnutrition.

Day 2 they crawled and jumped the 5.1 miles  from Speck Pond shelter to Full Goose shelter. How much Vitamin I (-buprofen) is allowed by your kidney filtration rate?

Day 3  was 7 miles to the car. Judd had left gallon bottles of water in the car and they were sufficiently warmed up for mini-showers for all before changing into clean, city clothes for the ride home.  They gave two hikers a ride to their hotel (not hostel, hotel) and John remarked "they stunk!"  (Surprise!)  The trekkers found their first burgers and beer at Sunday River       Brew Pub. Everyone had to check in at home so the wives wouldn't call the rangers.
