Hi, Judd and I had crossed paths a few times on the GA section of the AT as I’d flip-flopped north and south hiking with my Brother-In-Law, his niece, and my daughter. We happened to end up at the NOC together Tuesday night the 17th and decided to hike together to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Hiking with Judd was a much more pleasant way to travel (I’d been hiking by myself for a few nights.) He’s a great guy with interesting stories. We had lots to talk about. He’s doing great; in great spirits, good shape, knows what he’s doing. He motivated me to put in a few more miles our second day (just over 15) than I might have had I been hiking on my own. (“Money in the bank” is how he’d describe any extra miles we walked.) Unfortunately my vacation is over; I’m back to work. But it was a great vacation. Everything you'd expect from a couple weeks on the trail; days of total downpours, flat tires on gravel fire-service roads, bee-stings, hitch-hiking into town for an EpiPen stories … and syncing up with a guy from Maine for a few days trading stories. I’m thankful we got to hike together. Best of luck to you guys, Jay
