Learn about the Maine Conservation Corps:
  1. Maine History Online - Putting Men to Work, Saving Trees

Maine's Civilian Conservation Corps camps arose quickly, only a month after President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the enabling legislation on March 31, 1933.
Judd left Thursday afternoon for Rangely. He had just finished a job interview and was meeting up with Michael Benjamin on the way to Brad Swanson's camp. He didn't want to drive back home so he parked the car in Waterville, hoping it wouldn't be discovered/towed. Malindi and I found his hiding place, discarded suit jacket and tie within.  We left him a note. That was Friday. Hope the car is still there upon his return. He usually doesn't check in when on the trail but sends blog posts, 3-5 at a time "when he gets cell service."  Someone with him clearly has cell service to post to FB. This is the worst selfie, ever:

JT back on the AT trail....

Yup. He's been back in So.China about 1.5 weeks.   So, now he's gone to Stratton and says he'll be back, maybe Sun pm or Mon am..... after hiking to Rangley with Michael Benjamin (the 3-4 days he "skipped" last summer.  ) Being a section hiker, he can do whichever route he feels like for as long or little he feels like:  SOBO or NOBO....whatevah!  He had the good sense to mow both my front and back lawn and do ME a re-supply before he left!  I got this.....
