Too rainy for me to practice hike

Honestly, this guy will do anything to postpone my renovation.  Suddenly, I get home and a tree is dead in the back yard.....it takes 10 man/(wo)man hours to chop the trunk/limbs into bits and haul away the debris. But there is now a modicum of sunshine for the beans and peas trying to come up in the garden.

Judd receives multiple bandanas for Father's Day: Tie-dye from his kids; all the necessary dosages for over the counter remedies should one be hiking the AT with a limited first aid kit.

Judd and Malindi set up the new tent to see if it's waterproof in the rain storms.

What a tiny air mattress. Don't roll off that!!

Judd retires from Fish Group at Warsaw Middle School

Judd's last night of school project:  making thank you cards for the 8th graders. Potato stamps still work.  Now he can get down to some serious retirement projects.  (see below)

"Seriously, Judd?"

Judd comes out to the "Suppah Club" during a quiet June BBQ evening. "Melanie has given me permission to hike the AT this spring."

"Seriously, Judd?"

"Steve better go with you." An observation after Mr. G points out the finer features of Judd's cook stove.

Conjecture: his trail name should be something with "naked" in it.  Big Naked Agnes?

Jana, the planner,  already has a calendar for weekly sign ups so you never have to hike alone.

You won't be getting those whip cream shots on the trail!

If supplies are available every 4 -6 days, where is the nearest hospital every 4 - 6 days?

Out of the blue....

Judd received a package today, out of the blue.  No one had been saying the "AT" word out loud. No one sent blog addresses to their friends. Susan had mentioned a few weeks ago that her children appeared prominently in the May/June 2013 issue of AMC OUTDOORS-"the magazine of the Appalachian Mountain Club."  I hadn't known I was a subscriber, but when the magazine arrived in my mailbox, there was a picture of her two children at Lake of the Clouds (part of the AT in New Hampshire) where they had hiked last summer before visiting me in Vermont.  It was all too many coincidences coming together.  It was like Judd was meant to hike the AT.  I wonder when he'll realize this.

The orange book mark which came with the book from Susanfriend held a poem:

Show Fish
I found a flounder and I thought, "Swell,"
I'll take it to school for show and tell.
But I forgot, for quite a spell,
To take it to school for show and tell,
And now it's two weeks later....well....
I'll take it to school for show and SMELL.
